Cold Weather Gear Room
In 2018 the staff of St. Matthew’s started taking donations of jackets, hats, boots, gloves, snow pants and anything else that would help keep needy members of the Fairbanks Community warm. This project has evolved over the years and now with the help of our local community we have an entire room dedicated to storing warm clothing for those that need them.
We work with Helping Alaska, who partners with churches all over Fairbanks to provide necessary items to those in need. In the winter, you might see jackets stuffed with a hat, gloves and hand warmers, hung from hooks around the Church. There is a simple note on them that says “I am not lost. Take me if you need me”
